Information for women and children

Woman and children who have fled from their country require special protection in this situation. The specialist advice centre JADWIGA has put together some important information in Ukrainian and English for women from Ukraine who are travelling alone: Informationen für allein-reisende Frauen aus der Ukraine. Health

Psychosocial counselling is a key element in the processing of what people have been through. The following agencies provide such services: (BM Hotline undLink siehe Karte und Kontakt)

If you would like your child to be looked after in a day-care facility (crèche, kindergarten, after-school day-care centre), then an essential requirement in Germany is that your child has been inoculated against measles.

The MMR vaccination is administered by your GP or a paediatrician. Important information on vaccinations in Ukrainian

Vaccinations protect you and your family. Various Corona vaccines are licensed for use in adults as well as children in Germany. Please find out about these options. Vaccination appointments can be arranged at the vaccination centres and at the surgeries of all paediatricians and doctors in the federal state.


Pregnancy

Many counselling centres offering advice on pregnancy or pregnancy in conflict situations can be found on our map under the item “Pregnancy”.

The Mothercare Network (Netzwerk Mütterpflege) provides new and expectant mothers, who have fled from Ukraine, with swift, unbureaucratic and voluntary help and advice on the issues of pregnancy and birth in the whole of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. School attendance in Germany is compulsory from the age of six. Please contact the education authority in your place of residence for regulations on admission. The Youth Migration Services Office Jugendmigrationsdienste in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offers advice for children and adolescents. These services can also be found on our map.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has around 100 schools where German is offered as a second language.

Childcare centres

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern children from 0 to 6 years can attend a day-care centre for children (crèche and kindergarten) or a day nursery. Holistic education services are offered here, and the individual abilities of your child are furthered. If you would like a place for your child to be looked after, please contact your local youth welfare office.
